Information asset register

This page explains the Export Credits Guarantee Departments’ (ECGD) Information Asset Register and how to make a request for information on  the Information Asset Register.

On this page:

What is an Information Asset Register?

The creation of an information asset register (IAR) is one of a series of Government initiatives designed to facilitate greater openness in public life.

The Government's IAR is a register of unpublished information holdings. Information holdings are information or collections of information which are held by the Government (either electronically or in hardcopy) and which have (usually) not been published or made publicly available.

The IAR does not provide direct access to the information holdings themselves. It alerts the public to the existence of the unpublished information and who to contact in order to access it.

The Government's Information Asset Register

The Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) has responsibility for the development and co-ordination of the Government's IAR. Crown bodies make their IAR records available on OPSI's Inforoute website, which you can find on the right hand side of this page. Inforoute is designed to serve as a single point of access for the public to identify:

  • the unpublished information which the government holds;
  • the government department which holds it;
  • the usefulness of that information; and
  • a contact to whom requests for that information can be made.

ECGD's Information Asset Register

Requests for information on ECGD's IAR will be dealt with in line with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIRs). Go to the FOIA on the OPSI website, which you can find on the right hand side of this website, for the full Act.

Go to Reports to see our Annual Review and Resource Accounts.. If a hardcopy is required, it may be ordered through The Stationary Office (TSO), whose details you can find on the right hand side of this page.

To find out what unpublished information ECGD holds, go to the OPSI Inforroute website, which you can find on the right hand side of this page, to search for a record.
