Making a request
This page explains how to request information from the Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD) under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIRs) and the Data Protection Act (DPA).
On this page:
How to request information
When requesting information under the FOIA or the EIRs you must:
- make your request in writing, by email or by letter;
- describe clearly and as precisely as possible what information is required, providing as many details as possible in order to help us find it; and
- state your name and address for correspondence.
You can send a FOIA or EIR request online by using our request information form in Contact us, which you can find on the right hand side of this page.
Go to Information charter to find out how to make a request under the Data Protection Act for any information which we might hold on you.
Fees
It is our current policy not to charge a fee for supplying information under FOIA and EIRs.
Appeals
If you are unhappy about a decision not to supply information you have requested, you may seek an internal review of that decision. That review will be carried out by a senior member of staff, who has not previously been involved with your request.
You can request an internal review by using our requesting information form in Contact us, which you can find on the right hand side of this page.
We aim to provide the results of internal reviews within four to six weeks. If detailed investigations are needed that take longer than this, we will aim to keep you informed of progress.
If you are not satisfied with the result of the internal review, then you may make a further appeal to the Information Commissioner, whose website you can find on the right hand side of this page.
Complaints
If you are dissatisfied about how your request for information was handled you may make a complaint.
You can make a complaint online by using our complaint form in Contact us, which you can find on the right hand side of this page.
