PUBLICATION SCHEME

INTRODUCTION

Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI Act) each public authority must:

  • Adopt and maintain a scheme which relates to the publication of information held by that authority and have that scheme approved by the Information Commissioner;

  • Publish information in accordance with that scheme; and

  • Review the scheme from time to time.

The purpose of a Publication Scheme is to ensure that information is available, without the need for a specific request to be made under the FOI Act. Publication Schemes are intended to encourage public authorities to publish more information proactively and to develop a greater culture of openness.

Additionally, each authority's Publication Scheme must specify:

  • The classes of information which the pubic authority publishes or intends to publish;

  • The manner in which information of each class is, or is intended to be, published; and

  • Whether the material is, or is intended to be, available free of charge or on payment.

Read the sections of the FOI Act relating to Publication Schemes on the Office of Public Sector Information website.

CLASSES OF INFORMATION

ECGD has grouped its classes of information under the following broad categories:

  • Corporate Governance
  • Organisation and Structure
  • ECGD Business Information
  • ECGD Case Information
  • Export Credit Policy
  • Export Guarantees Advisory Council
  • Finance & Resource Accounting
  • Personnel
  • Planning & Performance Management

Some of ECGD's published information is available through this website. However, some information is only available in other formats, such as hard copy. Additionally, you can request information that is available on the website to be provided in an alternative format, which may involve the payment of a fee to cover the costs of doing so.

LINKS TO INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS

The following links are to other websites that contain documents, which are relevant to ECGD as the UK's official Export Credit Agency. These websites do not belong to ECGD and the ability to obtain information through these links is not a guaranteed right under ECGD's Publication Scheme.

COPYRIGHT

ECGD is a Crown body and the information which ECGD produces is subject to Crown Copyright, which is administered by the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI). This includes material listed in ECGD’s Publication Scheme, unless stated otherwise. However, Crown Copyright in some of the material held in ECGD’s Publication Scheme has been waived, which means that this material may be reproduced freely and at no charge. Categories of material for which Crown Copyright has been waived include: government press notices, legislation and explanatory notes on the legislation, ministerial speeches, consultation documents, documents featured on official websites (except where expressly indicated otherwise), headline statistics and unpublished public records. More details can be found on the OPSI's website.

For other types of material however, the supply of documents under the FOI Act does not give the person or organisation who receives them an automatic right to reuse the documents in a way that would infringe copyright, for example, by making multiple copies, publishing or issuing copies to the public.

Brief extracts of any of the material included in ECGD's Publication Scheme may be reproduced for the purposes of research, private study, criticism, review and news reporting under the fair dealing provisions contained in sections 29 and 30 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
